ST+B Engineering served as the prime consultant contract for MEP system improvements and window replacements/upgrades at 1600 Jackson Street in Golden, Colorado. The project involved a three-story, 33,000 SF office building occupied by Colorado School of Mines administrative staff and focused on modernizing aging building systems while improving energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

The project scope included evaluation and analysis of mechanical system options; replacement of existing packaged DX rooftop air handling units and hydronic baseboard heating systems with variable refrigerant flow (VRF) and dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS); and upgrades to electrical systems to support the new HVAC infrastructure. Additional scope included window replacements/upgrades to improve building envelope performance and replacement of the existing 40-year-old roof.

The project was designed in 2022 and constructed in 2023 with a total construction budget of $3.2 million. The project was state-funded and delivered using a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) procurement method, requiring coordination with the owner, CMAR, and project stakeholders throughout design and construction.
